SAFE DRINKING WATER BY ONLY USING HAND POWER AND AUTOMATIC BACK WASH

The hand-powered pump yields up to a maximum of 500 liter of fully purified drinking water an hour. Each pump employs multi-stage filtering that reduces diseases by removing waterborne pathogens that can cause diarrhoea, dysentery, cholera and hepatitis. The units can operate from all forms of surface water, including ponds, lakes and streams.

The pump is ideal as a compact water treatment system wherever fresh surface water is available or with water storage systems (e.g. rainwater harvesting). The pump is fully mechanical and hand-powered, constructed on the basis of proven technology, without using any vulnerable electronics or chemicals. As the mechanical components are assembled in a modular manner, the pump is easy to install (plug & play) and easy to maintain and user friendly.

The water treated by the pump will meet WHO standards for drinking water for: - microbiological contamination, ie E-Coli, F-Coli, Salmonella, Hepatitis-, Polio virus and other viruses; - protozoa such as Giardia and Cryptosporidium; - worm eggs (Ascaris/Nematodes); - turbidity;

Please note that the pump does not remove humid acids, chloride, arsenic, fluoride and magnesium; metals like iron, beryllium, mercury and manganese and salts like nitrite, nitrate, sulphate and ammonium and (other) dissolved solids.

Each pump is delivered with: - supply/inlet hose, length 10 meter; - drain/outlet hose, length 1 meter; - mesh filter (50 micrometer) and floater; - water meter; - padlock; - installation plate, 4x M8 bolts and spacers; - tool set (3 Allen keys, 3 wrenches, special tool and silicon compound);  - O & M manual;

Optional: - activated carbon filter unit (20"); - chlorine dioxide tablets (in box with 30 pcs, 4 gram per piece, Dutrion)

In case of a borehole/well the supplier offers a well pump. This version purifies the water in combination with pumping up the water from a depth of maximum 20 meter via a set of Risers and Pump Cylinder.

Maintenance  Maintenance of the pump has been reduced to the minimum. The frequency of cleaning is depending of the water quality. Due to the company's field experiences, we recommend the following maintenance activities for standard situations: - regular cleaning (with a brush) of the mesh filter; - regular cleaning of the UF membrane and the whole piping system with a ClO2 tablet (4 g); this is possible via the dispenser or priming of a dissolved tablet in 20 liters water. - UF membrane: exchanging every 4 - 6 years. - Valve: exchanging every 2 – 4 years.

When you have chosen for the option of adding an Activated Carbon unit: - every 3 months replacement of the Activated Carbon cartridge; the used Activated Carbon cartridge is a standard 20” cartridge that usually can be purchased locally;

These instructions are general maintenance recommendations for more or less standard situations. Due to the local circumstances and field experiences, the final maintenance instructions should be decided.

The supplier represents and warrants for the warranty period of one year after installation, - but no longer than 18 months after delivery to the customer - that its products are free from substantial defects in materials and workmanship and conform to the specifications. The supplier's warranties do not cover defects or deficiencies due to or arising from (1) normal wear and tear or improper, abnormal, or negligent handling, operation, maintenance, overloading, or use; (2) tampering, alteration, or repair by buyer or third parties without the prior written consent of the company. Shelf life is a maximum of 6 months for unused pumps in unopened packaging under correct storage conditions after transfer of ownership from the supplier to the
customer.
