The Off-Taker - Kenya Power & Lighting Company Limited - will sign a Power Purchase Agreement with the promoter to purchase all the solar electricity that the company will generate at an agreed rate for periods of twenty years renewable.

The requesting company will invest in multi-solar energy powered business that aspires to alleviate the living standards of rural poor communities who are not privileged with electricity connectivity as well as contributing to the global climate change mitigation efforts.

Project 1

The first project is Solar Rural Poor Lighting for the benefit of especially school attending children, studying under very strenuous and unhealthy circumstances. The sources for lighting are either  smoky kerosene lamps or light generated by the use of firewood. These two sources do not only increase fire hazard potential, but also pollute the air for non-users. It is a basic right for each school attending child to have adequate, clean and healthy lighting enabling to study effectively. The solar clean generated lighting will also come for the benefit of other family members. This project needs US$ 660,000.

Project 2
The second project will be Solar Rural Poor Water Pumping Systems to supply clean and healthy water which is a fundamental right of all human beings. The current sources for household water are rivers, wells, dams and rain. The crude water drawing and transportation systems either contaminate the water with water-borne organisms’ responsible for water-borne diseases or get contaminated by other disease causative agents. The rural communities are in dire need of water pumping systems that include simple irrigation systems, not only to guarantee food on the table, but to equally contribute to their economic well-being. A few individuals within rural communities use diesel and or petrol powered water pumping systems that equally pollute the air besides being highly inflammable.  This project needs US$ 1,210,000.

Project 3
The third project will be installation of a Solar Power Plant with a capacity of approximately 2.0 megawatts, for harnessing, generating, converting clean and high quality, renewable solar energy to electricity. The company will sell surplus electricity to the state-run supplier - Kenya Power & Lighting Company Limited. In absence or inability to install stand-alone water purification and disinfection systems at individual household level, healthy drinking water systems will be centralized at this solar plant, accessible for the local rural communities. A cold store for fish harvests from a cluster of neighbouring small scale rural fish farmers will also be built, to operate on warehouse receipting. A solar powered cottage industry for fish feeds formulation will be installed. This project needs US$ 4,078,810.

Kenya has a rapid socio-economic and population growth that propels an increased demand for electricity that plays critical and pivotal role in all development sectors. The liberalization of electricity supply in the country is a cause for vibrant business opportunity for innovative entrepreneurs. Currently solar generated electricity connected to the national grid is negligible. The government of Kenya has developed an ambitious road-map towards a projected electricity demand of  5,000  megawatts  by  2017, up  scaled  from  the  current  capacity  of  2,200  megawatts. The Government is encouraging and promoting co-operation of local and foreign entrepreneurs in this business. The company will not only exploit inexhaustible, secure and clean solar energy, but will contribute towards creating employment opportunities, while conserving the environment, and including the rural poor in healthy and economic ladder that they are often left out.

The company is committed to contribute, in its possible scale to progressive transition to low carbon emission economies. This contribution though in a small scale is noble effort for making the planet earth a better place to live. As a profitable business enterprise, it is determined to be fully paid of the loans, special funds and or concessional financing by the sixth year (2021) of operation. We should all make efforts to leave the planet earth better than we found it for our well-being and that of the future generations
